Its hard to read magazines with pictures of perfection facing you at every turn of the page. I'm back to wanting the honey caramel streaks on the perfectly blown-dried hair which probably lasts for a day or two before I end up back with my normal slightly frazzled waves coupled with split ends 3 weeks later. Reality bites.
Henna treatments were slightly better albeit the messiest times on the kitchen floor with gloop stuck on for all of 12 hrs and tea smelling clothes/towels after...
Is beauty truly in the eye of the beholder?
Who can deny the allure of the smoky eye, the red lip or the nude gloss. Makeup holds the power to transform (or completely screw you over if you don't know what you're doing).
Undeniably a woman who knows how to wield her makeup can hide a multitude of flaws, can airbrush out the eyebags and tired eyes. Can paint on a face that speaks volumes. Which is of course the beauty of makeup. But when you cannot leave the house without an inch of warpaint on, that's where your reality gets warped. Because in the end, all you have is your true self under it all. Same thing goes with bodies, who can say they love every inch of themselves 100% of the time. We have the fat days, where we feel nothing fits right, or sometimes we have the good days where you stroll out in the shorts and tank feeling fit and fab. More often than not for me it comes after a good pain-inducing workout. Psychological? Most likely. Meanwhile the biggest loser is proving to be a very good source of inspiration for me to think twice before picking up the junk food!
Anyway its less about the numbers on the scales than about the way the clothes fit. Nike ads a couple of yrs back was awesome.
After all, don't we just want to be gorgeous?
