It could be worse...

It's one of days when a combination of broken sleep nights due to itching has kept you from a good night's sleep. Where you're required at the end of the day to be agony aunt to..well, your aunt, and you know that's what is facing you after a tedious day at work with little to shout about and you've not been exercising as much as you'd like to be and you realize that there hasn't been much improvement physically anyway, and you're still cursing bed bugs and wishing that you didn't have so many things to worry about at this point in time that sort of all coalesce in a throbbing throat that might indicate more illnesses.

Sigh. Positive thinking!

This dreamer need to reboot her dreams

Surprising right, life's sort of settled into this monotony of work, sports, travel, weekends that seem to just loop round and round. It's a wonder that I'm not bored out of my mind just yet, but I guess this is where the circles of social life step in to try and break up routine just a little bit.

2 years. Almost. What next? What now?

For now everything sort of fits like a second skin. But today I'm feeling just a little restless. It's one of those days where you've caught the wrong hour to wake up and basically woke up on the totally wrong side of the bed. TOTALLY. Where you sit at work and wonder WHAT you're actually doing. I'm sure it's the curse of the white collar worker, but what next eh?

Someone please call 911, yeah yeah
Tell them I just got shot down
And it's piercin through my soul
Feel my body gettin cold

That guitar cries in the song. Been on repeat for the past workday and yet to get sick of it. That's saying something!

Of sandflies, suntans and silly nights

Perhentian, summed up in these words...

travel, boat, wading in jeans through water, wasps, shisha, gorgeous diving, triggerfish, Moray eels, sand, sand, sand, climbing balconies, MSG food, crazy karaoke nights, 2am night swims, full moons, burnt down cafes, kimono dragons, GIANT gekkos, old taxis, centipedes, smokes, barefoot walks, itchiness, tangled hair.

Definitely a fun trip, but at the same time very happy to be back in civilization and not having to battle the million and one creatures that can kill you or make you itch like a bloody monkey. Omg. So Itchy.

Charmed

Sitting under the open air skies, blowing shisha, drinking mint tea, conversations roaming from future to past, present to plains of unidentifiable times. Speeches and hashtags on life and musings of things read, things seen. Ghosts of the month, projections on diving dangers, skiing comparisons, economic issues, racial, ethnic challenges. Education systems, fabrics of life.

Shisha conversations never fail to disappoint. It's often like I'm drunk without the nasty side effects of drinking.

It's nice having friends in town, especially old ones whoes histories go way back, where paths have crossed across 5 countries over 6 years in bite size tea cake fillings of satisfaction. A little vacation for me in town, a coalescing of friendship groups. Circles have become more diverse over the years until there are little pockets of friends that need continuous attention every cycle of day, week, month, year. The Michigan Group, the KLASS group, the RSGC group, the Random group, the Friend of Friends group, all other Foreign friends who come once in a while group. No wonder I've been feeling busy =S.

Not to mention the ones scattered across the globe, I've always prided myself on keeping in touch with people in general, but even in the age of whatsapp, skype, email anything else, it's quite hard to have a conversation with people sometimes! But after awhile, I guess it's time to let go and realize that those who are true friends will always be there. Dormant, but willing to pick up threads at any time again.

I said thanks for a lot of things last night. But overall, a thanks for having the ability to do what I want. Ultimately that encompasses it all.

In the spring we made a boat
Out of feathers, out of bones.
We set fire to our homes,
Walking barefoot in the snow.

Distant rhythm of the drum
As we drifted towards the storm.
Baby lion lost his teeth,
Now they're swimming in the sea.

Troubled spirits on my chest
Where they laid to rest.
The birds all left my tall friend
As your body hit the sand.
Million stars up in the sky
Formed a tigers eye
That looked down on my face,
Out of time and out of place.

So hold on,
Hold on to what we are,
Hold on to your heart.

Awaken by the sound
Of a screaming owl.
Chasing leafs in the wind,
Going where we've never been.

Said goodbye to you my friend,
As the fire spread.
All that's left are your bones
That will soon sink like stones
