Bring it on!

Also...http://thingsweforget.blogspot.com/

brilliant random pictures. Reminds me of the time in the Diag at 7pm, Fall Sem.

Me and some of the YHO peeps were most likely going for our meeting at that time and we stumbled on DORAK chalking the diag with inspirational messages during mid term season. Besides throwing frisbees we got to practice our graffiti-ing and I had written "Hello Gorgeous" somewhere near the Hatcher steps. Who knew that 2 secs later this guy would be lying next to the message and his friend would be snapping a pic of him. Was thrilled to see someone appreciate my 'ahem' hard work.

If...

I used to think that IF I were smarter/hotter/prettier/sexier/wittier I would be able to achieve any sort of answer to life.

But I guess the older you get the more to realize that if one were just happy with who they were, then all of life's problems might just not be that anymore...problems.

I'm starting to feel that vanity fair really does have some great articles and was totally enjoying their piece on Liz Taylor and Richard Burton a couple of weeks back and now that she's finally gone, I guess their life will always be an enigma, because as Oscar Wilde puts it:

'If they were allowed their own way, every comedy would have a tragic ending, and every tragedy would culminate in a farce.'

Although it is crazy to look at pictures and realize how no one can escape age-ing...yeesh...

Good gym time yesterday, back in charge of my own body and pushing it to its limits. Brilliant.

Care

What does it ever mean to care for someone? I guess we are lucky to grow up with unconditional love from our family, a privilege, not a granted right.

It's stupid to think I can reach back in time and immerse myself wholly in the overwhelming emotions that once made me so happy. But now the more I think about it your MC is far outweighing your MB.

But maybe life cannot be calculated.

I think the sheer thing that terrifies me most is that fact that I meant nothing to you. And sometimes the way you treat me when it comes to keeping in touch remains so reflective of this fact, flying against the claims that you make that you do still care. And maybe we're running off on two separate tracks of expectations that are so contrary to each other in every way the result of which just end up hurting me more than it ever could you. Why the hell am I always stuck with such broken personalities?!

I already knew to expect all this didn't I? Just as last year managed to fit itself into perfect jigsaw pieces, so did leaving cause every edge to mess itself up and implode in every way possible.

難道只換回一句活該
一個人靜靜發呆
兩個人卻有不同無奈
好好的一份愛啊怎麼會慢慢變壞

Friendships

Common App-2006
I have finally reached my 18th year. The time where I can hardly believe I have made it to the year where I can legally be called an adult. The kid in me still screams out even as my physical body ages, it is a sad occasion when I finally realize my hips can no longer fit down the playground slide as it used to, or the fact that I can no longer enjoy the swings because my legs are too long to fit comfortably.

The end of Year 11 signaled a turning point in life. No, the Earth did not stop moving and the Heavens did not come cascading down, but I did lose many of my closest friends. The ending of the exams was the prelude for the tearful goodbyes that would soon follow as we scattered to the different areas of the globe. Arguments over whether Frodo was happy sailing off for the Grey Havens would no longer ensue; neither would the laments over the latest business/chemistry/math test results. In short, it was the end of an era.

I realized as many others would that friends are what makes school memorable. The shared memories stay with you for the rest of your life and the bond created is unbreakable. Through my school life I’ve made the strongest friendships with the un-likeliest people, and to my utmost horror, enjoyed every single moment of it. I believe it should be prerequisite to have an Italian friend with whom you can tease about the correlation of nose sizes to location of hometown in Italy; or to have a Bruneian friend with whom you can strut the hallowed halls of school with a violin chin-rest balanced precariously on your head while pretending to be Gisele on a catwalk in Milan. That friend was a guy by the way.

To pinpoint a single person that had an influence on me would be fallacious. I am a hodgepodge of experiences encountered through the short years of my life. Even thought friends call me obstinate; I believe that I am impressionable, willing to take in the differences in beliefs and opinions thrown at me by my equally stubborn friends. I’ve been caught in the battlefield of arguments ranging from whether love really exists to whether eternal life would really be beneficial and survived to tell the tale.

We might live on different ends of the earth right now, but distance is not the culprit for most of us. The real culprit is in finding the five minutes needed to reply that email and this is where true effort lies; whether we still have the desire to keep in contact. It might seem sad that such friendships eventually die out but there comes a point where two paths indeed diverge. All that remains in the end are memories that were once shared as every single one of us forges new experiences for ourselves. But I will always go back to the same swings and slides and reminisce about Frodo and his Grey Havens.

Seems like eternity ago. Guess we all really have changed.

"I would follow you to the beginning, just to relive the start"~Paramore. Because if I'm honest with myself, I still miss your embrace.

Salaried issues

I was driving back today and thinking to myself about how naivety kinda slips away the older you get. I've kind of attributed it to the fact that there is now a monetary worth attributed to me to which it is my sole responsibility to grow as much as possible until I reach the age that I no longer can produce anything worthwhile. It's crazy to think that in this service economy that everyone seems to be striving for, we aren't actually producing anything of need, it's more of want. Also $0.99 per angry birds game x 600 million users is a shit load of money for whoever came up with that game. It is also horribly addictive.

Anyway, I don't know how much I can take being a salaried worker really, I want to be able to create something of my own and it's this wanting to do something that dictates how my career aims are going to be shaped. Things to strive for! =)

Why does it seem sometimes that I'm totally unchanged from the teenager I once was =.=.
